Ziggy's travels have taken me to some amazing places! I felt included and safe from start to finish. The group games and time together make the trips unforgettable. One can also find peace and quiet. The authentic encounters with the locals and the well-chosen and comfortable hotels allow us to discover Senegal outside of the tourist hotels. Ziggy's commitment is evident in every detail! In 2017, I had the pleasure to visit Dakar and its little hidden treasures thanks to Malick. He had not yet developed his "Travel With Ziggy" (TWZ) but I think he was already thinking about it because these moments that one could have thought trivial were already drawing the outlines of the discovery offers he proposes today. I have seen him expand his catalog. I have seen him give others, through his adventures, the desire to travel in a positive way and I have seen him transform his passion into adventures accessible to more than just himself.
I have been dreaming of participating in a TWZ trip ever since. St. Louis last June was a perfect fit!
The vagaries of traffic conditions (Dakar traffic jams...) did not dampen our joy as travelers. This situation created the first exchanges in this air-conditioned bus driven by a super driver 👌🏽, very patient!
I won't tell you about the road but I'll tell you that once we arrived in Saint-Louis we didn't waste a single minute of our 24 hours there. The same evening concert of Alune Wade at the Saint-Louis Jazz Festival followed by an afro electro evening completed by a 2h00 am dinner (this mechoui business there 😅). The next day visit the old city, stop at the village of Gandiol. A stage of the trip that has deeply marked me. Mamadou, inhabitant of the village, having a particularly strong history and a project of the same strength.
Walking the sandy beaches of the Barbary tongue was the highlight of my stay. I could have been left there, and you would have found me there again today. Only, it was necessary to think of taking the road towards Dakar. We did not fail to restore us first of a good thieboudienne in "Darou Salam" Café.
These 24 hours in Saint-Louis meant that we didn't have time to do anything but connect with other travelers. I came out of this experience nourished and happy with the encounters I made. As I write these lines, the "Babs Sauvages" gang that was born from this trip is still active in Paris. "Guin Guin Guin"!
